Zestful Summertime Soirée

When I think of my favourite summer memories, I think back to refreshing cocktails on the deck at sunset, beach days with my puppy Frankie and plenty of laughter with my closest friends (as we desperately try to beat the humidity).

There’s something about summer - and that beautiful sunshine - that brings a zest for life! It was this vibrant energy that inspired me to embrace the outdoors to create this enticing tablescape and bubbly cake design.

THE STYLING

I was immediately drawn to my favourite citrus fruits for my initial colour inspiration; limes, oranges and lemons. I strategically used my ocean-blue striped tablecloth to contrast the warm tones and serve as a reminder of my glorious beach day memories.

What I enjoyed the most about this tablescape is the simplicity of the delightful table centerpiece. The scattered mix of fresh fruit is not only cost effective, but easy to execute (with a few of the fruit cut in half for added visual interest). A sprinkle of pink petals across the table adds another layer of detail, without affecting the simplistic nature of the tablescape.

Hosting this event outdoors was an absolute must for my summer themed soiree! The natural lighting and the greenery from the surrounding trees lifts the energy of the scene. The complimenting vibrant colours simply creates an infectious energy and enticing scene that you can’t help but want to be a part of.

THE CAKE

My inspiration for my summer cake design was sparked by a recent celebration I attended. The champagne was flowing, and in most cases, overflowing! With every ‘pop’ of the freshly uncorked bottle, came the uncontrollable flow of bubbly being poured enthusiastically into empty glasses. There was so much fun and laughter (plus a few spills!), with many ‘cheers’ to exciting times ahead.

The aim for this cake was to capture that same fun-loving energy from my memories. With the influence of champagne, I designed and created a cascade of ‘bubbles’ overflowing from the top of my cake. You can easily liken this cake design to an overflowing glass of champers.
