The ultimate ladies night-in - girl chats flowing, endless glasses of wine, your favourite tunes setting the vibe and best of all…PIZZA! Or is it actually cake…? haha! 'Cause let's be real, what's a sleepover without eating pizza in bed and waking up surrounded by crumbs later?
My childhood sleepovers certainly inspired the theme of this photo-shoot, but with a twist - elevated charm. So whether you’re planning your next girls’ night in or seeking a touch of nostalgia, let my party setup and realistic pizza cake be a source of inspiration. Because who says you can't sprinkle a bit of teenage nostalgia into your celebrations?

THE STYLING
While reminiscing about my childhood for inspiration, I envisioned a scene that not only paid homage to those nostalgic moments, but also exuded an air of sophistication (as I've become older, I now appreciate a little more of the finer things in life haha). So I embarked on styling this shoot predominantly in black and white, allowing the cake to take centre stage amongst the understated charm. I strategically added pops of vibrant colour around the room, infusing it with energy and excitement.
A polaroid camera and record player served as the perfect finishing touches for the cosy sleepover. And if you look closely, you'll eye spy some oregano and parsley on the side tables - for that extra Italian flair! (Random? Absolutely. Stylish? You bet!).
THE CAKE
Isn’t this cake fantastic? My goal was to create a jaw-dropping, semi-realistic masterpiece. From perfecting the appearance of a stone-baked crust, to the melted cheese strands using modelling chocolate. It certainly triggered my pizza cravings. Although I must admit, it’s a little confusing to bite into something that looks savoury, only to be greeted with that hit of sweetness.
To add that extra layer of authenticity, I scoured high and low for the perfect pizza boxes to showcase my cake creation. When you’re trying to achieve a realistic finish on your cake, every little detail matters. Something as simple as sourcing the right pizza box can elevate the experience to a whole new level.
